Recently I experienced my very first Womb Hara massage by the beautiful Amanda Pohio (@womb_ripe) who is one of the only practitioners (and seriously devine humans) in my area where I live, who provides this next level service.

In this blog I want to go into depth about what a womb Hara massage is and how it may be of benefit to you, but first, I think its important for you to know my story & current health journey Im personally exploring, so you can understand why I am so obsessed with this practice Ive recently found.

My current health journey…

At the time of writing this blog, I am 33 years young.

I don’t have children yet but I would definitely love to start a family in the next couple of years and so naturally, I have started to become more conscious of my body & the beautiful home that will house, grow & birth my future babies.

Its crazy because I’ve never been maternal or even cared really about this subject, but I guess things have naturally changed for me as I’ve gotten older & started to explore the beautiful body us ladies are gifted with!

In addition to this new world I’m diving into & learning more about, I’ve begun to explore my feminine energy more.
I’ve been relishing more & more in the yin, the rest & in the consolidation energy I’m gifted, instead of ignoring it and forging ahead like I usually would.

If you’ve watched some of my latest IGTV soul sessions (episode 10 & 11) you would have learnt a little about the journey I’m currently on in health & in business, embracing a more cyclical way of living, relinquishing my over-dominating masculine energy I have lived in for a long time & really exploring what it is like to be a woman. I’ve been loving it.

Truthfully, I have been living more in my yang (masculine) over the last 5 - 8 years without knowing about it.
I am not saying this is bad, in fact, I am eternally grateful, I don’t believe I would have been able to create / accomplish at the level that I have in the last 5 years without doing so.
I am also not saying that women can’t achieve what they set out to achieve without living in their masculine, that is absolutely not true, because we can achieve anything & everything equally…

But if you saw behind the scenes, and what it is I have done / sacrificed , in particular in my business to achieve what I have, I think you may agree…

So, this year I set my 2021 goals to explore this new way of living I started hearing so many women speak of.
With a family now on the cards in the future, I started thinking there had to be a way that I can be an amazing & present wife, daughter, friend, mother PLUS an awesome entrepreneur.
I know they don’t have to be exclusive from one another.

So learning more about embracing both energies in a healthy balance & honouring my body - was the way to figure this out.

I also suffer from pretty nasty period pain. Day 1 & 2 are always the days I have to clear my schedule & so I can be in featal position on the couch.

Ive always known this is not normal.
Ive always known however, that is is so common.

Every month when this happens I find myself saying out loud “ I really need to get a grasp on this hormonal imbalance causing this” … yet the months go by and here I am, 33 years old and still dealing with it.
The two books that changed my world & have helped me unravel whats happening in my body and helped me balance my hormones are:

  • Rushing Women Syndrome - By Libby Weaver (this was the first book I read that showed me what I was experiencing wasn’t normal and I could take control back)

  • In The Flo - By Alissa Vitti (An amazing methodology im currently following that actually frekin works, its next level!)

So when I read all about Womb Hara Massages earlier this year and the work that Amanda does - I knew this was Devine timing!

What is Womb Hara Massage?

“Womb” is another word for the uterus, our reproductive center, and “Hara” is a word used to describe the area around our belly and abdomen. Together they form a very special and sacred area in our body – a place where our creative energy force lives and where new human life has the potential to be grown and nurtured.

Womb Hara Massage is a deeply healing, sacred abdominal massage technique created by Natalie Zukerman. It is designed to release tension in this area, reawakening our creative energy and restoring hormonal balance.

If you’re wondering specifically what happens during a typical session:

“Massage strokes are gently applied to specific points to help promote your body’s natural healing ability… specific attention is paid to the abdominal, low back, and sacral/coccyx area to help gently and painlessly guide abdominal organs into their proper position. This promotes optimum health and wellbeing by releasing emotional and physical congestions.”

What are the benefits of Womb Hara Massage?

Reflection via @soma_tide

Reflection via @soma_tide

So many of us experience symptoms of stress and emotional trauma in our stomach region, which is to be expected as our digestive system is physically connected to the brain via the enteric nervous system! This imbalance can cause us to feel emotionally or creatively blocked, worsen stress and anxiety, increase the chance of infertility, and can lead to digestive issues or lower back pain.

Womb Hara Massage techniques can improve many health conditions and imbalances originating in this area such as:

  • Pelvic pain

  • Menstrual pain and cycle related challenges

  • Digestive issues such as appetite, constipation, gas and bloating

  • Ovarian cysts

  • Organ prolapses

  • Fibroids

  • Endometriosis

  • Lower back pain, sacroiliac pain, sciatica and tightness of the sacrum

  • Fertility issues caused by mental, emotional and physical reasons

  • Energetic blockages caused by trauma in the body

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Pre and post-menopausal

My personal experience…

I can’t really explain how it feels other than, you walk out of there floating.

I didn’t really know what to expect, I thought maybe Amanda would massage my tummy area for the whole hour and I really wasn’t sure what that was going to be like but thats totally not what happened.

We started off by chatting and talking more about whats coming up for me right now.

She took a thorough health history prior to the appointment so she new all about me, my cycle & hormones, where I’ve been, where I’m at and where I want to go which was great because we were able to dive straight in when I entered her consult room.

I was so relaxed in there, beautiful essential oils diffusing, soft relaxing music and candles ( I came home and changed everything about my office ha ha).

I learnt so much from her within the first 10 minutes & talking out loud about something I dont usually talk about openly was seriously therapeutic… finally, someone understood me! I felt herd & seen. It was like I was finally about to get a grip on my crippling period pain & I saw hope!

I was so excited for the next part…

The massage was BEAUTIFUL. Amanda is not only incredible and what she does, but she’s seriously intuitive - its like she just knows whats required.

It was an amazing massage of the front and back of my body, it was so relaxing and so needed. It wasn’t your usual deep tissue massage - it was different, it was like a necessary hug that all my muscles & organs were screaming for. I can’t explain it in words - you just have to try it

We finished off with the burrito. Im not sure what the real name is hehe but she wrapped me up in this incredible warm & fuzzy cocoon and left me there for 15 minutes totally blissed out.

After the massage, she gave me an energetic reading about what she felt from my body & it was absolutely mind blowing and exactly what I needed to hear.

It re-affirmed I was on the right path with all my research & exploring I’m currently diving into for my body & she also guided me on what the next steps to take were.

She’s incredible conscious, holistic & just a beautiful human who loves to help women tap into their super power. I can’t recommend her enough!

Will I go back?

This is Amanda!

This is Amanda!

YES!

In fact, I’m going back every month during my luteal phase of my cycle (the week before our period) to support my body & hormones, and to give back to myself in a way that feels replenishing & restful.

If you read “In The Flo - By Alissa Vitti” you’ll learn so much more about what else you can do to honour your 4 different phases & get back into flow.

In her book, Alissa teaches you all about what to eat, how to move your body, how to time manage & what to try avoid at all 4 phases of your cycle & a Womb Hara massage is 100% apart of my new 28 day routine.

I hope you get to experience one in your area wherever you live, however if you are on The Gold Coast - please get in touch with Amanda.

I know she gets booked out quickly now (a few of my friends have started to see her after my next level experience) & after chatting with Amanda, she has been generous enough to give you a discount on your visits when you mention this blog.

Just want to say how grateful I am to you Amanda honey - you’ve changed my world and taught me so much already. Your work is so beautiful, my wish is for every woman I know to get to experience a piece of you xo
