My morning success routine

My life is crazy full. I’m constantly juggling multiple areas of my business, team members, meetings, new ideas and brand building, podcasting, clients, finances, my own health… While still trying to have a social life, spend time with family, nurture my relationship, travel, and enjoy life…

People often ask me how I do it all, and my answer is always my solid morning routine!

No matter how crazy life gets, if you’ve got a morning routine to follow there’s always some structure in your day which can help you manage any overwhelm or stress. A daily morning routine brings you back to the present moment and I believe mine has been a crucial element of my success over the years.

Must-haves in my daily routine:

My go-to book is “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod, and in this book he has created an acronym, SAVERS, which stands for his six rituals or habits he recommends should be part of your morning routine to improve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Reading this book inspired me to come up with my own daily routine acronym, MYGAME, which I’m going to share with you today.

I follow this routine pretty much daily, and it keeps me productive, healthy and able to juggle all the crazy elements of life while minimising stress. I usually wake up anywhere between 5.30am and 6.30am. My phone is on aeroplane mode until 9am, so from the moment I wake up until 9am - its me time. I love to see the sun pop over the horizon every morning if I can catch it & before I start my morning medi, I’ll have a hot lemon tea to kick off my digestive system.

Let me share with you exactly how MYGAME looks like for me each day...

Meditation

Meditation brings me to the present moment and is the perfect opportunity to reset and move on with the day refreshed and energised. The ideal meditation practice will look different for everyone, but I tend to prefer guided meditations.

In my health and wellness program The Healthstyle Emporium, we’ve got a whole library of different guided meditations. So usually I’ll pick a topic from there, whatever feels right at the time, and listen to that.

Some of the topics include:

  • Manifesting your dream life

  • Release your worries

  • Activate joy

  • Visualising your abundant future

  • Clear negative blocks

  • And many more!

To get the most out of meditation, I always listen with headphones and find a comfortable position to sit in where I won’t be disturbed. I bought a hanging egg chair and I sit out in my backyard with the sunrise doing my meditations - it’s my happy place. Some days the practice is longer, other days it’s shorter, anywhere from 20 minutes to 80 minutes. It’s all about listening to what your body needs on the day!

Yes Item

Your Yes Item is not work related, it’s self-growth related. For me, my Yes Item is something I’m committed to completing on the day, no matter what.

Sometimes I’ll come up with it based on what’s going on in my life at the time, other times I’ll choose an item that feels right for the day from my Joy Menu.

My Joy Menu is a menu of things that make me happy! I believe everyone should have one and aim to complete at least ONE thing off the menu every day, if not more. This ensures you’re always making the most of life, nurturing your soul and prioritising your own happiness.

Some items you might find on a Joy Menu include:

  • Walking outdoors

  • Exercising

  • Playing with your pets

  • Taking a bath

  • Putting on a face mask

  • Getting a massage

  • Drawing or painting

  • Getting a mani pedi, blow dry and/or facial

  • Calling someone who would love to hear from you, like nan and pop.

But remember, everyone is completely different and your Joy Menu should only contain things that make YOU feel good.

Gratitude

Every single day, no matter what, I take a moment to express gratitude to the universe. I am so grateful for many things in my life, and no matter how bad things get, no matter how stressed I’m feeling or no matter what negative event happens, there’s always something we can be grateful for.

My gratitude practice involves writing down 5 things I’m grateful for right now, and also 5 things I’m grateful for that I will manifest for the future.

This future-pacing practice means I’m constantly manifesting more goodness into my life. Acting as if you already having and experiencing the feelings of what it feels like to have, be, doing that thing is where the magic is at. Not just thinking about it… but feeling it.

I believe a gratitude practice is incredibly powerful, not just for manifesting the future but for appreciating and enjoying the present moment. It honestly makes all the difference.

Affirmation

An affirmation is a positive statement that you say to yourself to solidify a new belief or positive mindset. They are powerful in reprogramming your brain to let go of old, limiting beliefs and build new thought patterns that align with your current goals and vision.

Some people have a list of affirmations they’ve written for themselves, but I prefer to use affirmation cards. I have a pack of affirmation cards and I pull one card each day to give me an intention or theme for the day. I keep it by my workstation and come back to it at various times during the day to focus my mind. If you follow me on IG, every Tuesday morning my assistant Addi and I announce our the ‘I AM’ affirmation for the day & we do it in a fun and different way each time to make you guys laugh 😋

The cards I use are made by my amazing mentor and friend, Loren, and you can find them here if you want some for yourself: https://www.i-am-cards.com/daily-life-changing-affirmation

Mission Statement

Your mission statement is your greater purpose in life. What is the mission you are aiming to achieve, who will you impact, what kind of person will you be?

I’ve written down a mission statement as an agreement I’ve made with the Universe. I come back to it daily and read it out loud, and I encourage you to do the same. Life gets crazy, as I’m sure you know, and it’s too easy to lose focus and forget why we’re doing what we’re doing.

My mission statement reminds me of what I want to create, what I want to do, who I want to be and what I want to have in this life. I also include the gifts I will share with the world in return. I read it every morning because lets face it, life is full and it can take over. It’s so easy to wake up and go-go-go & we can easily forget why we woke up and why we’re here. So reading it daily is my reminder to myself and a beautiful way to get in state before the day starts.

Saying your mission statement out loud every day brings you back to your purpose and mission and allows you to keep moving towards your goals feeling passionate and inspired.

Exercise

We all know exercise is good for us, but did you know just how much daily exercise can change your quality of life? Here’s just a few things regular exercise will do for you:

  • Make you feel happier

  • Help with weight loss

  • Clear your mind

  • Increase your energy levels

  • Improve your focus

  • Boost your brain health and memory

  • Help your skin health

  • Reduce your risk for a number of diseases

  • Make you feel stronger and improve your self-confidence

Need I say more? That’s why I make sure moving my body in some way is part of my daily routine.

The way I move changes depending on how I feel on the day, whatever feels good on that particular morning is what I’ll do! Some days I’ll join in on a group exercise class, while other days a beach walk with a podcast or my fave playlist in my ears is exactly what I need.

Do more of what makes you feel alive

MYGAME is the daily routine that keeps me feeling inspired, focused and on track towards my goals, but what works for you might be different. Finding a daily routine that works for you is all about listening to what your body, your mind and your soul needs or wants and doing more of that.

If you follow something for a while and it’s not working, don’t be afraid to change it up and do something different. You could even create your own acronym too!

If you’re ready to create a daily routine that encourages abundance, inspiration and joy into your life, my 16-week online holistic health program, The Healthstyle Emporium, is full of resources and programs you can use to nourish your mind, body and soul.
